At SelectQuest, we use a proven 15 step process: 1. NEEDS ANALYSIS - The first thing that we do is a complete Needs Analysis. We talk and strategize with you to come up with an exact "candidate-wanted" profile. We will discuss the responsibilities of and the expectations for the open position. 2. DETERMINE HOW TO PRESENT OPPORTUNITY - After the Needs Analysis, we spend quality time with you on how we should approach the market place and how you want your company positioned. This enables us to present your company in such a way as get candidates excited enough to talk to us, but more importantly excited enough to resign and come to work for you. 3. CREATE INTERNAL WHITE PAPER - Next, we assemble a group of people within our office and conduct a brainstorming session to create an internal 'white paper'. We review what you are looking for; and how we are going to talk about this search in confidence when we go out into the market place. Once that is completed, a printed copy will be faxed to you within 48 hours for your review, appropriate modifications and signature. |
4. RESEARCH COMPANIES AND CANDIDATES - After completion of the paperwork, within 24 hours our research team will have identified every company, based on the information you shared with us, that might have a viable candidate that could the job. Once the research is complete we'll send it to you and ask you to review it in order to add companies or remove any companies because of conflict of interest.5. IN-DEPTH CANDIDATE INTERVIEWS - At this point we can go out to the marketplace. This is when we start making calls, talking to potential candidates and conducting in-depth candidate interviews using behavior-based questions. We try to ascertain three things: 1) do the candidates have the appropriate background; 2) are they willing to change jobs for the right opportunity; and 3) are the candidate's goals really in line with your goals, short and long term. After contacting all the companies on our list, we have talked to approximately 60 to 80 candidates and have interviewed 30 to 40.
6. PRESENT QUALIFIED CANDIDATES - Next, we present to you our short list of candidates, the ones who match and who will take the job. When we present them to you we are very specific in explaining why we choose each particular candidate.
7. PREPARE CANDIDATE FOR FIRST INTERVIEW - Once we've agreed on the candidates who should get a face to face interview, we will prepare the candidates for that interview. We'll share with them about your company, it's history, the interviewer, and any agenda for the meeting.
8. PREPARE CLIENT FOR FIRST INTERVIEW - Equally, we will prepare you for that first interview. We review what the candidate has enjoyed doing in his career; what he is pursuing as he moves on in his career. This helps you understand what his hot buttons are so that you can really hit home on the things that are important to the potential candidates.
9. DEBRIEF CANDIDATES - After the first interviews, we debrief the candidates. We ask specific questions of the candidates as to why they are or are not attracted to your opportunity, and share their answers with you.
10. DEBRIEF CLIENTS - We also debrief you, asking you why you feel this candidate might or might not be a fit. If you decline a candidate, we will move them along and market them to the next company.
11. IN-DEPTH REFERENCE CHECKS - Not only do we check basic references, but also do some confidential reference checking for you. We make the candidate fully aware of any background or reference checking we will perform.
12. CONSULT AROUND COUNTER OFFER ISSUE - When you've decided on the candiate you want, we prepare them for what is going to happen when they resign, such as the counter offer their current company will make.
13. MAKE OFFER AND GET ACCEPTANCE - With your approval, we present your offer to the candidate. We prepare them to respond to your offer within 24 hours, and to sign the offer and return it to you if accepted.
14. FOLLOW-UP WITH CLIENT AND NEW HIRE - We remain in contact with the candidate and you, from the start through the first 90 to 180 days of their employment.
15. ASK FOR CLIENT REFERENCE - We then ask, if you are happy with the job that we have done, to write us a letter of reference.
